Mould Vs Black Mould

jacksonandco

Black mold is a fungus that may cause your immune system to react. Common symptoms include sneezing, coughing, congestion and eye irritation. It rarely causes serious illness or death but may worsen asthma symptoms.

Stachybotrys chartarum is a greenish-black mold. It can grow on material with a high cellulose content, such as fiberboard, gypsum board, and paper. Growth occurs when there is moisture from water damage, water leaks, condensation, water infiltration, or flooding. Constant moisture is required for its growth.Sometimes known as 'toxic black mould', Stachybotrys chartarum loves building materials like wallpaper, gypsum and fibreboard. It thrives on damp walls of all types. Although scientifically disputed, this type of mould has been linked to the controversial 'sick building syndrome'.

Black mold can cause health problems. As such, it is not advisable to be in a house with black mold. If a person must stay in a house with black mold, they should try to seal off any areas where black mold is present to reduce contact with it.

Severe reactions can occur if people are exposed to a very large area of black mold, or if it's over an extended period. In that case, dangerous symptoms requiring immediate medical assistance include nausea, vomiting, fever, shortness of breath, and bleeding in the lungs and nose

The key to mould prevention is keeping air moisture to a minimum. Dry any condensation that may be gathering on your walls, ceiling to windowsills. Dehumidifiers can also help to remove moisture from the air. Try to keep your bathroom and kitchen door shut tightly and ensure your windows are open whilst cooking

Surface Mold's Texture: Black mold will take on a wet, slimy texture on the surfaces where it is growing. In comparison to other household molds, which typically contain a light, fuzzy texture to their appearance. This can be a key identifier when determining the specific mold form in the home.

the mold comes off easily, it is likely that it is not black mold. However, if the mold is difficult to remove or leaves a dark stain, it is likely that you have black mold.” The spots may be small or large, and are often clustered together in one spot, which indicates where moisture has likely gathered over time.

Natrual ways to treat Black Mould

Mix one part bleach with three parts water in a bucket. Using a scrub brush or heavy-duty sponge, vigorously scrub the mold-affected wall with the bleach/water solution until the mold spots have disappeared.

Treat the Area

For a natural solution for getting rid of black mold, combine one part baking soda with five parts distilled white vinegar and five parts water in a spray bottle.

Use undiluted white vinegar on hard surfaces in kitchens and baths. A bleach solution also works to kill mold. Mix one cup of bleach in a gallon of water, apply to the surface and don't rinse. Mix a 50/50 solution of ammonia and water

There are no standards to say how much mold is hazardous to your health. There should not be visible mold growth or strong moldy odors in the workplace. Report mold problems. If you see or smell mold, or if you or others are experiencing mold- related symptoms, report it so the problem can be investigated
